NORTHWEST -- Declaring it to be "a real fashion show, for a real great reason," iconic fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger kicked-off a special runway show Tuesday night benefiting the National Capital Chapter of the MS Society.

Co-sponsored by Capitol File Magazine and held at the historic Washington Club, just off of the East side of Dupont Circle, the event began with a stroll down the customary red carpet before guests were invited upstairs to the second floor of the Patterson House.

There, they were free to pose for pictures inside a makeshift photography studio setup by popchips!, browse the many enticing silent auction items up for bidding that night (prizes ranged from a night with the Moscow Ballet to a basket of premium vodka products compliments of Bacardi), or simply mingle among the fashionable group of community leaders, media personalities, philanthropists, and MS supporters in attendance.

Porcelain platters of hors d'œuvres were liberally circulated and two open bars setup throughout the ballroom ensured that guests never went thirsty last night. VeeV Spirits was one of the night's principal sponsors and had prepared two specialty cocktails for the occasion. While the VeeV Orange Crush (VeeV Acai Spirit, Orange Juice, Sprite, and Fresh Orange) appeared to be the more popular choice, we nevertheless favored the VeeV It (VeeV Acai Spirit, Club Soda, and Fresh Lime) cocktail.

At just past 8 p.m., guests were ushered into the venue's celebrated "Presidents' Room" for the night's main event: the runway show! After welcoming remarks were delivered by host Shannon Rusbuldt, National MS Society Board Member Robert Rusbuldt, and, of course, Tommy Hilfiger (his wife, Dee Hilfiger, and sister, Betsy Hilfiger, were also in attendance), the lights were dimmed and the music turned-up.

For the next 20 minutes, close to two dozen female and male models took to the runway to showcase a special Tommy Hilfiger capsule collection, as well as the latest collections of five other prominent New York-based designers.

Last night was clearly a fashionable fight that MS had no chance of winning!
