The canine vote was hotly courted by both Team Blonde and Team Brunette at last night's Mighty Pint mixer!
NORTHWEST -- Pints were raised on Wednesday night to toast the progress made by the
Alzheimer’s Association in the prevention, treatment, and eventual cure for the disease.
Organized as a social mixer for the wildly successful
Blondes vs. Brunettes non-profit (more than $1,000,000 raised nationally since its founding), the evening served as a chance for this year's lineup of players to relax and "get to know the competition."
While the organization's primary goal is to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association, a secondary purpose is to give participating D.C. residents a chance to meet new people and build friendships. And in a transient city like Washington ("everyone from here is from somewhere else"), such gatherings are invaluable. When paired with a social purpose, you've got a recipe for success!
Indeed, one of the reasons that BvB has been able to grow so quickly in other cities (the Dallas chapter alone has raised more than $200,000) is because girls who first learned of the organization while living in Washington, recognized its enormous value and sought to bring such goodwill with them whenever they relocated to another city.
To date, both D.C.'s Team Blonde and Team Brunette have raised more than $65,000 for this year's campaign. This means they've already crossed the halfway point in their 2010 goal to secure $125,000 in donations.
If you'd like to support Washington's blondes and brunettes (and really, why wouldn't you?), please consider joining them on game day! This year's competition takes place on November 13th and you can
purchase your tickets here.

Of course, doing good can also mean having fun... And fun was indeed had by all at BvB's "fratastic" fundraiser at Glover Park's popular
Gin & Tonic on September 23rd.
An
Animal House-themed evening, a $5 door donation (benefiting the Alzheimer's Association) bought guests access to drink specials and pitchers of all-too-tempting jungle juice (orange juice, cranberry juice, Sprite ...and, oh yeah, vodka).
Jointly hosted by both Team Brunette and Team Blonde's
Jen Utz,
Catalina Cabral,
Sam Dredge,
Jamie Carroll,
Ashley Branca, and
Meagan O'Daniel, the party was made all the more special in celebrating brunette
Carissa Maguire's birthday as well.
Happy Birthday Carissa (belatedly) and keep up the amazing "work" BvB!
