NORTHWEST -- With this year's final team rosters scheduled to be announced on Saturday at an official draft announcement party, contenders for both Team Blonde and Team Brunette ramped-up their fundraising efforts in the hopes of scoring one of much prized 50 player slots.

The fun kicked-off on Wednesday night at Georgetown's Rhino Bar & Pumphouse. Veteran players Carissa Maguire, Kristen Murdock, and Judy Mayka decided to join forces for a guest bartending event benefiting both teams.

Dave Nelson, manager of the popular M Street hangout, had generously agreed to donate 20% of the evening's (8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.) bar tab to the Alzheimer’s Association, with the event generating an estimated $1,500 in total sales.

Yet, the busiest night by far proved to be yesterday with three Blondes vs. Brunettes parties well-positioned all throughout the city.

A happy hour at Alan G. Popovsky's Hudson Restaurant & Lounge served as the start of the festivities, with another joint Team Blonde/Team Brunette fundraiser hosted by Amanda Stout, Jane Wusterbarth, and Carissa Maguire.

Guests took advantage of the unseasonably cool summer weather to sip glasses of wine and nibble complimentary slices of gourmet pizza on the venue's comfortable outdoor patio.

Supporters of Team Blonde then hopped over to Glover Park for an '80s-themed "Pretty in Pink" party on the second floor of neighborhood favorite, Kitchen 2404.

Hosted by Kathleen Berger, Heather Darazs, McKay Elliot, Stephanie Fontenot, Elizabeth Lauten, Amanda Stout and Katie Welsh, the evening was a decidedly colorful celebration, full of various shades of bright neon, pony tails, bangs, and scrunchies.

Co-owner Fritz Brogan was also on-hand to help welcome guests and ensure drinks were topped-off. A $5 door donation to the Alzheimer’s Association for Team Blonde bought supporters access to a special drink menu, including a "Pink Passion" shot concocted by Brogan specifically for the evening.

Not content with "just" two fundraisers Thursday evening, Team Blonde ended things with a late night bash at Georgetown hotspot George.

The "Bubbles and Blondes" party was hosted by Ashley Martens, Jamie Carroll, Josie Taylor, Meagan O'Daniel, and Whitney Kuhn and allowed guests to sip chilled glasses of champagne and fizzy white wine spritzers, as well as down special "Bubble Gum" shots -- all while grooving to a popping soundtrack spun by DJ Justin.

Radical!
