NORTHWEST -- It's been barely 30 days since the start of the 2010 Blondes vs. Brunettes competition and the contending girls have already raised more than $33,000 for the National Capital Area Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.

Through a series of fundraisers from now until game day on November 13th, the popular Powderpuff game hopes to bring in more than $125,000 -- close to a 25% increase over last year's efforts. And at their current pace, both teams are on track to collectively reach this goal.

Before the teams can take the field, however, a player lineup must be selected. And with the top 10 fundraisers from each side automatically winning spots on the corresponding team, all of the candidates are doing their best now to bring in the cash!

Thursday night saw the latest event from Team Blonde in the form of an end-of-summer party inspired by the hit TV show Mad Men.

While Elizabeth Lauten and Stephanie Fontenot were the two official contenders raising money during the event, they were supported by hundreds of friends, including Maura McGroarty, Drew Aldridge, Elizabeth Conway, Lee Moretz, Carolyn Palowitch, Fritz Brogan, Krissy Yapaolo, Toby Philpot, Kelly McDonald, Alex Renjel, Mary Randolph Carpenter, Nick Magallanes, Kathleen Berger, Justin Ross, Stewi Downer, David Meslar (Team Blonde coach), Dawn Ousley, James Hall, and Stacy Bergin.

Brogan's Gin & Tonic served as the host of the party with a $5.00 door donation buying guests access to an evening full of drink specials, including $4.50 Heineken beers (the official beer of Mad Men) and $5.00 gin & tonic cocktails.

Supporters were asked to come dressed in their '60s best with Jason Thomas winning a free bar tab for the night for sporting the best costume.

Vowing a victory for Team Blonde, Lauten said, "This year, it's ours!"

The battle rages on...
