The Party:

GEORGETOWN -- Modern, a fixture on the Georgetown nightlife scene since 2001, threw open its doors on Wednesday night again for the first time in over a year with the launch of a new weekly party series entitled "REWIND".

And last night's inaugural party was clearly a celebration of the venue's history and longstanding ties to the D.C. community, with diplomats, musicians, Georgetown movers and shakers, and, of course, college students in attendance (the open vodka bar probably helped with the latter).

Conceived in the garden of Betsey Johnson's Georgetown location during an informal tasting party of Emperor's Brand vodkas, REWIND is billed as a musical journey of sorts with a soundtrack that borrows unreservedly from the age of disco and the '80s along with the standard Top 40 club hits (and some under-the-radar tracks thrown in too for good measure depending upon the mood of the crowd).

Music makes up the foundation for REWIND with a percentage of each Wednesday's proceeds benefiting VH1's Save The Music Foundation. DJs Master Marc + Rivera will also be recording tracks live each week under the "Touch of Class" moniker and make them available to fans via Apple's iTunes store.

Still not convinced that REWIND is a good time? How about if we told you that Emperor's Brand is buying every guest over the next few weeks a complimentary cocktail?

Great music, friendly people, refreshing drinks. Look out Thursdays: Wednesday nights are back!

The People:

Mark Noone, Founder of iconic punk rock band The Slickee Boys / Rolling Stone Contributor H.E. W. Nelson Lewis / Modern's Janine Schoonover / Betsey Johnson's Jenny Zinn
