MCLEAN, Va. -- No sooner had the hangovers from all of the after parties surrounding Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week subsided that the retail buyers of the world had mobilized to capitalize on the latest fashion trends.

Ensuring a healthy volume of spring and summer purchases for their respective stores means guaranteeing shoppers that they have ready access to the most stylish apparel and accessories of the season.

And Tysons Galleria is naturally always at the forefront of such a cyclical fashion frenzy given the couture clout of its many upscale tenants, including Saks Fifth Avenue, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and even Porsche Design.

The tony McLean, Virginia-based shopping destination draws a highly affluent crowd of shoppers throughout the year, with some even traveling from around the world just for the chance to pay the General Growth-owned property a visit.

Recognizing its sartorial influence over the DMV area, Tysons Galleria always tries to give back by supporting like-minded events from the surrounding community, such as the Washington Humane Society's annual Fashion for Paws benefit.

Similarly, it also strives to work in tandem with members of D.C.'s fashion press, to help better communicate with the general public when it comes to news surrounding fashion and luxury.

One of the many ways in which the Galleria works with the media is by hosting an annual 'Style Luncheon', where it presents its findings on the latest trends to emerge from New York Fashion Week. Such was the case on Wednesday afternoon, with some two dozen Washington-based fashion editors, photographers, and bloggers converging on The Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner for the occasion.

Leading by example, models walked a makeshift runway during the event using items available for purchase from the mall's retailers. Representatives from various brands and boutiques were also on-hand to answer any questions. Specifically, the four spring trends identified were as follows:
  • Artpop: "From graffiti art to bold brushstrokes, designers have created beautiful masterpieces that will...make you look like a work of art."

  • Shine Bright: "Shine bright like a diamond, or better yet flash some metallic! Silks and heavy metal take over the runway this season."

  • Be A Sport: "The jock is in, and it's time to kick it up for spring with athletic coats and casual sweats. Yes ladies, it's acceptable to wear a sweatshirt or mesh out in public."

  • On The Rise: "This season is about raising the pants waist high and shortening the top. Be playful, show some skin and wear cropped."
