BETHESDA -- With music from the likes of the Black Eyed Peas and Akon wafting through Bethesda Lane courtesy of DJ Neekola, the second annual runway show of The Front Row style event at Bethesda Row kicked into overdrive on Friday night at approximately 7:30 p.m.

While the actual show itself was pushed-back until 8:10 p.m. due to the late arrival of ABC7 WJLA News Anchor Pamela Brown who served as the evening's guest host (her taxi got lost), the audience didn't seem to mind as they passed the time sipping pink and orange-tinged cocktails and catching up with one another. Based on my experience over the past year or two, the Washington, D.C. fashion scene is unique in that it is made up of a close-knit group of people while at the same time remaining accessible to newcomers who also are looking to immerse themselves in the real fashion capital of the world!

Some of the stylishly-dressed guests who turned-out that night included Neiman Marcus's Liberty Jones, CityShopGirl's Kelly Collis Fredrick, Labels For Love founder Mary Schmidt Amons, Ann Hand manager Ashley Taylor, Leona designer Lauren Leonard, The Washington Post's Holly Thomas, and Ms. Spinach herself, Betsy Lowther.

The celebrity guests of honor for the event were New York socialite and fashion fixture Tinsley Mortimer (accompanied by hospitality executive Brian Mazza) and Laura Bennett, a Project Runway finalist and the author of Didn't I Feed You Yesterday?: A Mother's Guide to Sanity in Stilettos.

Local stores that were represented on the runway included City Sports, Daddy & Son, Ginger, J. McLaughlin, Lou Lou, Lucy, Luna, Pink Palm, Sassanova, The Waygoose, Urban Chic, and Wear It Well.

Some of our favorite looks of the night were the Strapless Blue/White Jennifer Reale Dress sold by Ginger, Wear It Well's combination of a Sunlight Brazil Black Zip Tunic, Anue Linge Kiwi Scoop Tank, and Three Dot Black Knit Capris, Luna's Trina Turk White 3/4 Sleeve Lace Mini Dress, and the alice + olivia Sequined Dress sold by Urban Chic that closed the show.

A brief book reading by Laura Bennett followed the runway event and several lucky readers were even able to chat with the author as she signed their copies of her book.

Alas, The Front Row comes but once each year. So we'll see you at the next one in 2011!
