DUPONT CIRCLE -- Glow sticks intermixed with cuff links at
The Huxley on Saturday night, during mobile dating startup
Hinge's inaugural 'NeonTuxedoDisco' party.
Equal parts black tie formal and raging dance party, the crowded summer affair saw Washingtonians pair their finest evening attire with a bevy of radioactively colored accessories during the decidedly entertaining evening.
For those ticketholders that didn't have a spare tuxedo or gown handy, a little dose of sartorial creativity quickly solved that problem, with neon suspenders, bow ties, sunglasses, hats, necklaces, and pocket squares all prominently on display.
The so-called 'electroformal' boasted a triumvirate of top musical talent to provide fuel for the club's proverbial dance floor fire, with Australian indietronica band
Miami Horror serving as the headlining act.
New York City-based DJ
James “Jpatt” Patterson of
The Knocks fame had also been enlisted to help get the party started, with pioneering D.C. DJ
Chris Burns capping the all-star lineup.
Hinge first burst onto the local social scene
back in February, with an epic launch party that heralded the D.C. market debut of the iPhone and Android friends-of-friends dating application. Housed inside the city's budding
1776 technology hub on 15th Street and already having raised some $750,000 in funding, the homegrown startup boasts significant area support and has recently begun expanding to other cities nationwide.
That's the power of the glow stick for you.
