City Tavern Club's 'Mad Men' Party Returns To Georgetown; Stiff Cocktails Downed, Candy Cigarettes Puffed

GEORGETOWN -- For the second year in a row, the historic City Tavern Club brought back its popular 'Mad Men' party to the streets of Georgetown late Friday night.



And thanks to a promotional campaign that surely would have even made Don Draper proud, the stylish event quickly sold out, much as it did in 2012.


Apparently, young Washingtonians don't require much prompting in order to throw on their finest '60s-era suits and skirts. Or throw back a stiff cocktail too for that matter.


The latter, of course, came courtesy of special 'Don Draper' (Manhattan) and 'Megan Draper' (French 75) libations mixed up specifically for the party, which also boasted plenty of beer and wine options.


Hosted by Travis Broad, Jay Cohen, John Devaney, Margaret Donnell, Caroline Gould, Elizabeth Kane, Courtney Rosellini, and Nate Vanderploeg, Friday's affair marks the private club's renewed push to more consistently host events throughout the year for its members.



Next up will be a black tie optional fete on May 11th that promises a glamorous Great Gatsby-esque evening, complete with white glove service, tall cuvees of champagne, and plenty of sequins.


Still, we will prefer to think of it as when 'Betty' met Daisy.
