NORTHWEST -- Voicing her support for America’s democratic political process, Sanrio’s beloved Hello Kitty is running for President, with an all-encompassing platform of “friendship, fun and happiness.”

Buoying her campaign, the world’s favorite salutary feline has established her campaign headquarters inside Living Social’s well-appointed Penn Quarter event space, which will begin welcoming supporters tomorrow, November 1st, through Tuesday, November 6th (10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.).

Occupying the first two floors of such prime Washington real estate makes a bold statement and Hello Kitty’s Friendship Party is clearly playing to win.

Attracting votes at such a late stage in the election is surely a difficult proposition. Fortunately, however, the four-legged candidate has put together an attractive platform to entice the electorate, including free Sephora make-overs, Hello Kitty silhouette paper cut-outs, a Microsoft-powered Hello Kitty photo booth, and amazing balloon art.

Regardless, the Friendship Party pop-up base of operations fits in well with the abundance of museums and art galleries that populate the District. Remember artist Emanuel Leutze’s iconic painting of Hello Kitty crossing the Delaware? Wait, you don’t? Well, it and a dozen or so other masterpieces of similarly Kitty-themed Americana art are on-display at the Living Social event space.

Hello Kitty has also partnered with Georgetown Cupcake to support D.C.-based non-profit 826DC, which helps students ages 6-18 with their creative and expository writing skills.

A portion of merchandise sales from the pop-up store will be donated to the Red Cross in support of its Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.

Special Hello Kitty for President cupcakes will be on sale from November 1st-6th at all area Georgetown Cupcake locations, with 100% of the sales being returned to 826DC. On-site at the campaign headquarters, voters can further show their support by playing with the space’s ‘fun claw’ machine, from which all proceeds will be similarly donated.

Major donors to Hello Kitty’s Presidential campaign and other notables will actually be privy to an exclusive guest list-only VIP party on Saturday evening, which will feature a special performance by legendary rapper Biz Markie, along with one or two other can’t-miss surprises.

Obama, Romney, and, now, Kitty. Cast your vote today!
