Masa 14's Newly Appointed Executive Chef Adam Goldman Makes His Mark

LOGAN CIRCLE -- The arrival of fall fashion isn’t the only change sweeping through Richard Sandoval, Kaz Okochi, and Ivan Iricanin's prized Masa 14 restaurant, along with the arrival of cooler weather.

Chief among the changes is the appointment of Adam Goldman to the lead position of Executive Chef. Prior to the announcement, Goldman served as Masa 14’s sous chef for approximately two years, which gives him a nice head start in taking the reins of the Latin-Asian eatery.

And it didn’t take much time for Goldman to make his mark on the 14th Street hotspot, with the introduction of a new seasonal autumn menu at both the downstairs restaurant and the covered rooftop above.

Some of the chef’s favorite additions include a Cornmeal Crusted Oysters dish with butter lettuce, lemon togarashi aioli, green papaya slaw, and pickled fresno chilies and a plate of Salmon Tartar with roasted red pepper, green mango chimichurri, and togarashi toasted wonton crisps.

The cocktail menu has also received a timely refresh for fall, with newly crafted Masa Smoked Cider (mezcal, cinnamon-infused whiskey, mulled apple cider, fresh lemon) and Autumn on 14th (bourbon, balsamic syrup, brown sugar, ginger beer, fresh basil) libations now available.

Not ones to take the changing of the seasons too seriously, however, Masa 14 also recently announced that it plans to host a monthly ‘White Party’ on the last Saturday of each month, thereby playfully challenging the conventional notion that one can’t wear white after Labor Day.

Fall (and food) is suppose to be fun after all.
