The Guest List:
GEORGETOWN -- Championing the end of summer and the chance for friends to reconnect, the annual Go Bo Party took over the sprawling Johns family estate in Georgetown on Saturday night, for the eighth consecutive time.

Held, in part, to commemorate Bo Johns’ battle with cancer while in the sixth grade, the enthusiastic neighborhood block bash raises funds for the Emergency Family Relief Fund at nearby Georgetown Hospital.

Ward 2 DC Councilmember Jack Evans (pictured right) turned-out in support.

During the 87 days that he spent at the not-for-profit medical facility, Bo encountered so many other kids that needed help, that the Johns family decided to start a local fundraiser to give back.

The Go Bo Party is a decidedly grassroots and local affair, with most attendees heralding from the surrounding community (although all are certainly welcome).

Each year, the event’s organizers devise a different party theme, with “California Dreaming” serving as the premise for 2012. Everything from movie props to photo booth costumes to the iconic Hollywood sign served as the backdrop for this year’s crowded celebration.

And while such thematic elements were welcome additions to the party’s perimeter in helping set the ‘La La Land’ tone of the evening, it was clearly the enormous white circus tent out back that stole center focus (no doubt due to the musical stylings inside of Motown and funk band The Wallers).

Go Bo, indeed!
