DUPONT CIRCLE -- Perhaps not Dirty Bar’s typical crowd, but woodland creatures and fairy servants could definitely be counted among the masses at the Dupont Circle venue on Friday night, for Dream for Kids DC’s signature summer fundraiser.

A Shakespearean-themed affair styled after the playwright’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream comedy, the late evening fundraiser saw over a hundred Washingtonians pack the rooftop at Dirty Bar for a casual celebration benefiting the nonprofit’s ‘Extreme Recess’ clinics, which promote physical activity among local children with disabilities.

’A Midsummer Night’s Dream for Kids’ Host Committee.

VIP ticketholders got a jump start on the fun at 8:00 p.m. with an open Ketel One cocktail bar and a parade of savory hors d’oeuvres courtesy of sister restaurant Dirty Martini. They were then joined by general admission guests at 10:00 p.m.

But the real draw for everyone, including host committee members LaRhonda Lombardi, Rebekah Brannan, Christi Main, Alexis Levine, Reynaldo Casas, Erich Ferrari, Matthew Cronin, Greg Turner, Andrew Horn, DJ Phlipz, and Sean Mosley, was a special live performance by musician Ray Heisler.

And half of the money raised from his second album, ‘Love, Life and Everything in Between’, will be donated to Dream for Kids.

A generous act that would surely have earned plaudits from Duke Theseus and Queen Hippolyta themselves.
