The Guest List:
NORTHWEST -- Washington’s left and right wasted no time ‘meating-up’ on Tuesday evening, for an exclusive party hosted by Capitol File Magazine and Smith & Wollensky to celebrate the 50th National Wine Week.



The guest list-only ‘green carpet’ reception saw over a hundred of the city’s movers-and-shakers from the worlds of media, hospitality, business, and politics climb the storied steakhouse’s stairs to the second floor, where they were treated to a series of specially prepared food and wine pairings.



Oysters and roast beef were matched with delicate Sauvignon Blancs and hearty Cabernet Sauvignons, respectively, for example. Yet vino wasn’t the only libation up for grabs last night, as a trio of rum-based Bermuda cocktails (including a particularly popular Dark ‘N Stormy) was also up for grabs courtesy of Gosling’s Rum.



As an annual winner of the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for the 25th consecutive year in a row, Smith & Wollensky invites the restaurant’s patrons to taste a series of wines plucked from the magazine’s highest-rated vintages during each National Wine Week. Selections are specifically tailored to the individual menus of each geographic location, with the celebration held every spring and fall (March/September-ish) nationwide.
