WASHINGTON, D.C. – Having provided its passengers with everything from free bottles of vitaminwater on New Year’s Eve to red roses and chocolates on Valentine’s Day, private car service Uber took community outreach to a whole new level yesterday, during a special Presidents’ Day promotion.

Dozens of lucky Uber D.C. customers, who were chosen at random, were surprised to find an entire private motorcade at their disposal, including two flanking black Cadillac Escalade SUVs, in addition to the service’s ubiquitous black Lincoln Town Cars.

As mock Secret Service agents (earpieces and all) opened doors and turned heads, users of the service couldn’t help but break out into smiles while taking advantage of the clever (albeit, short-lived) marketing campaign.

The Presidents’ Day promotion was just the latest in a concerted and sincere effort on behalf of Uber to win-over the hearts and minds of the District’s commuters, in the face of a controversial lobbying campaign on behalf of the city’s taxi drivers to shutout the wildly popular company from the Washington market.

Uber clever, right?
