The Guest List:
MCLEAN, Va. -- With all of the tony luxury labels that call it home these days (Louis Vuitton, Elie Tahari, and Tory Burch have all rolled-out their welcome mats there over the past few months), Tysons Galleria sought to highlight some of the leading style trends for spring, during an intimate luncheon on Tuesday afternoon inside The Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner’s Michel by Michel Richard restaurant.

Alas, Chef Michel Richard couldn’t be talked into walking the runway himself…

Hosted by Galleria General Manager Rich Dinning and attended by a well dressed contingent of some of the District’s top fashion reporters, stylists, and photographers, the relaxed event featured runway models sporting the latest fashions from many of the upscale mall’s tenants, as well as presentations from representatives of Neiman Marcus and Sassoon Salon.

Specifically, eight trends to watch over the next few months are:
  • Atlantis: Think aquatic inspirations from the likes of Bottega Veneta, Chanel, and even Tumi, including elegant gowns in sea foam and pearl trimmed accessories.

  • Neon: Following a similarly bright Fall/Winter season, expect bright shades of orange, yellow, and green to continue popping-up in the Spring collections of Karen Millen, Nicole Miller, etc.

  • Nude: A counterbalance to energetic neon colors, Thomas Pink and Ralph Lauren, among others, are showcasing more delicate nude and chalky pastel colors in their latest wares.

  • Gatsbyesque: The Roaring ‘20s experience a resurgence in cheerful collections from Herve, Oscar de la Renta, and Ferragamo.

  • Sporty: Athletic prowess makes the jump from the field to the catwalk, as track pants and sweats from Rag & Bone, Akris, and BCBG delight shoppers and Olympic-inspired hairstyles communicate confidence and freedom.

  • Volume: ‘50s-inspired full skirts, with longer hem lines, come back en vogue, with Anne Fontaine and Gucci experimenting with proportions through pleats and peplums.

  • Prints: Architectural lines, abstract prints, and color blocking are turning heads thanks to the latest collections from Burberry and Prouenza Schouler, among others.

  • Accessories: Strapless day bags, wedges, and earrings boasting tribal influences, futuristic metallics, and bright whites help keep accoutrements creative.

The secrets are out D.C.!
