CHEVY CHASE, Md. -- Math and science were as in vogue as fabrics and patterns during Tuesday evening’s crowded ‘geek 2 chic’ runway show, co-sponsored by Microsoft and Bloomingdale’s of Chevy Chase.

Microsoft's Mark Drapeau addresses the crowd.

A special technology-oriented fashion event first conceived by Microsoft’s Dr. Mark Drapeau and launched out of D.C. last October, the geek 2 chic concept has since grown into a national campaign, including a recent stop in Chicago.

Last night, 24 of the District’s rising technology executives, including Facebook Public Policy Communications Manager Andrew Noyes, Venga Co-founder and President Winston Lord, Monster Strategic Account and Business Development Manager Scott Logan, and GeniusRocket President Peter LaMotte, strutted down a makeshift catwalk in the latest fall and winter fashions, from many of today’s top design houses (think Hugo Boss, Armani, and Ralph Lauren, among others).

Microsoft's Vince Menzione.

Proceeds from ticket sales for the event benefited Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship, a nonprofit started out of New York City in 1987, with the mission of providing programs that inspire young people from low-income communities to stay in school, to recognize business opportunities, and to plan for successful futures.

iStrategyLabs' DJ Saul.

After the runway show, the nerds..er..models were ushered via an armada of limousines, provided by media sponsor DC Magazine, to Georgetown’s posh L2 Lounge for a guest list-only after party.

There, between specialty cocktails, such as the ‘Revenge of the Geek’ (Imperial Vodka, Passion Fruit Puree, Grand Marnier, and Red Bull), and bites of sweet and savory dishes from the adjoining Kafe Leopold, fashionable and geeky guests alike were free to mingle, laugh, and even pose for humorous keepsake pictures inside the onomonoMEDIA photobooth.

Being a geek has always been chic. And it’s never been more fashionable to say so!
