Blondes vs. Brunettes: Ozio Draft Party Draws 2011 Powderpuff Battle Lines In Fight Against Alzheimer's!

NORTHWEST -- While many local football fans might have been drawn to the Washington Redskins season opening win over the New York Giants this weekend, an equally decisive on-field rivalry was taking shape in the form of the official draft party for this year’s Blondes vs. Brunettes (BvB) football game.


An annual powderpuff fundraiser that originated in the District 7 years ago and has since spread to cities all over the country, proceeds from each BvB game are earmarked directly to the national Alzheimer's Association, in the hopes of ‘tackling’ a disease that is the country’s sixth leading cause of death.


This year’s D.C.-based game day fundraiser and related feeder events are expected to raise more than $125,000 towards such a goal. All told, the BvB games have brought in more than $1 million for Alzheimer’s research to date.


And Friday evening, close to a hundred supporters of the organization piled onto the stunning rooftop deck of Dupont’s popular OZIO restaurant and lounge, to celebrate the announcement of this year’s roster of players, coaches, and cheerleaders.


While the group’s top fundraisers were guaranteed spots on the active roster as a reward for their efforts, the remaining vacancies were filled based on each candidate’s commitment to the organization, spirit, and athletic ability, in addition to their fundraising efforts.


Game day is Saturday, November 12th, 2011. See you in the stands!
