GEORGETOWN -- With Labor Day just around the corner, summer might be unofficially coming to a close. But that didn’t stop Washingtonians on Thursday evening from descending en masse to Cady’s Alley-based luxe
L2 Lounge, for the third annual ‘Endless Summer Beach Party’ hosted by D.C. nonprofit
Luke’s Wings.
Guests donned their finest Saint-Tropez chic threads for an evening of music, cocktails, prizes, and games, including beach volleyball, Nintendo Wii simulators, and even a (tequila shot-fueled) limbo contest.
All told, last night’s fundraiser raked in approximately $7,000 in support of Luke’s Wings travel service programs benefiting the country’s wounded warriors and their families.
The organization recently received a grant from the state of Texas to provide travel planning and complimentary airplane tickets all over the country to Texas veterans, in addition to its broader mission of providing travel services to wounded warriors currently recovering at military hospitals all over the country.
Thursday night’s fundraiser also received some extra marketing muscle courtesy of Gilt Groupe’s recently launched
Gilt City DC service.
Summer breeze, makes me feel fine…
