The Guest List:
GEORGETOWN -- Building on the success of last year’s event, details about the 2011 Georgetown celebration of Fashion’s Night Out are beginning to emerge, with a special media soiree kicking things off last night.

Dozens of D.C.-based journalists from the worlds of online, print, television, and radio converged at M Street’s tony CUSP boutique on Wednesday evening to get a sneak peak of next month’s fashionable festivities, as well as toast this year’s organizing host committee.

The 2011 Georgetown Fashion’s Night Out Host Committee.

Originally started out of New York City in 2009 to restore consumer confidence among local retailers, Fashion’s Night Out has exploded, in subsequent years, into a global initiative that will encompass more than 100 cities in the United States alone this year.

And while some of the 80+ stores, salons, and restaurants participating in this year’s transformation of Georgetown into a self-described ‘fashion playground’ have yet to finalize their plans for September 8th, here’s what we know so far:

  • Someone’s going to get hitched… One of the highlights of the evening will be a special “Get Hitched in Georgetown” wedding contest, where DC-area brides will compete for a chance to win a dream wedding, including gown, cake, bridal suite, invitations, and reception.

  • The bright and young (and not-so-bright and not-so-young for that matter too) will have a place to relax. The cool kids over at Brightest Young Things will host a ‘funky and fashionable’ BYT Lounge at Dean & Deluca all night long, including photo ops, live music, and cool refreshments.

  • There will be a roller disco. The ladies at LUSH Cosmetics will be prepared to boogie with shoppers (on skates no less), including funky foot and hand treatments, as the Georgetown store is transformed into a temporary roller disco.

  • Men are invited too. Kelly Muccio’s Lost Boys men’s store will be turned into an old fashioned haberdashery, complete with top-shelf bourbon classes (and glasses), traditional straight razor shaves, shoe shines, and even a barber shop quartet.

  • F. Scott Fitzgerald would be at home. Vintage designer boutique TARI will be celebrating 1920s era glamour by teaming-up with Art Soiree for a Great Gasby-themed party, featuring classic movies, live window models, a DJ, and makeovers.

  • Michel Richard wants you to be stylish (and full). The award-winning chef’s Citronelle restaurant will marry the worlds of food, wine, and fashion during a special ‘Vintage en Vogue’ event from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. While enjoying some of the restaurant’s signature hors d’oeuvres and libations, guests will be treated to a series of fashion shows presented by MyDCStyle’s April Jones Firoozabadi.

  • You will never go thirsty. Bottles of Smartwater will be scattered throughout Georgetown during Fashion’s Night Out, thereby ensuring that shoppers stay hydrated while they spoil themselves rotten.

  • You will still be doing good! Personalized Fashion’s Night Out tote bags from Shag Bag and specially-designed t-shirts will be on sale from a variety of participating Georgetown merchants all night long, with all proceeds benefiting Labels for Love, an area charity for women’s and children’s causes.

Many more details will be forthcoming as Fashion’s Night Out approaches (remember, September 8th!), however, what’s clear is that Georgetown won’t see another party like this for at least another year!
