NORTHWEST -- Only someone like Tammy Haddad or Betsy Fischer could bring together the heads of Washington’s five media families (okay, more like 20 families). And come together they did on Tuesday afternoon, for a special lunch in honor of public relations executive Kelley McCormick at The Jefferson hotel’s Plume restaurant.

After more than nine years at Qorvis Communications, McCormick was recently named public relations agency Gibraltar Associates’ newest Partner and Chief Operating Officer. Gibraltar’s client base counts everyone from the Dole Food Company to Gilead Sciences to GeoEye.

Longtime friends of McCormick, Haddad and Fischer wasted no time in arranging an intimate congratulatory lunch for many of her friends, which just happened to include powerbrokers from just about every major D.C. media organization.

Washington Post, Washingtonian, Washington Examiner? They were there. All of the glossy lifestyle magazines too: DC Magazine, Capitol File, Washington Life, and SELF Magazine. New media? Check. Twitter, Huffington Post, Politico, and, naturally, REVAMP.com.

There were plenty of McCormick, Haddad and Fischer’s friends from the non-profit world as well. In fact, the diversity of the guest list was a testament to the affability of all involved.

Attendees feasted on a gourmet menu of chilled pea soup with crème fraiche and jumbo crab cakes – all freshly prepared by Plume’s new executive chef, Christopher Jakubiec.

A jumbo crab cake topped with a crisply toasted strip of bacon.

A lovely luncheon among friends. Congratulations Kelley!

Guests were treated to gift bags containing a miniature model of the White House made-up of gourmet white chocolate.
