Craps! And Roulette, Poker, Etc. L2 Lounge Goes Black Tie At Luke’s Wings’ Casino Royale…

CADY’S ALLEY -- The after party destination for many of the District’s most lavish galas and philanthropic benefits, it’s not uncommon to find gentlemen in tuxedoes and ladies in ball gowns inside the walls of posh L2 Lounge on any given night.

Nevertheless, the crowd at Georgetown’s most stylish late night lounge was especially well dressed on Thursday evening, as Luke’s Wings hosted its second annual ‘Casino Royale Night’ in support of its programs assisting wounded warriors.

A non-profit committed to providing transportation assistance (e.g., travel planning, complimentary airplane tickets, etc.) to veterans and the families of those wounded soldiers currently recovering at military hospitals around the world, Luke’s Wings was founded in 2008 by Fletcher Gill and Sarah Wingfield.

Yesterday’s fundraiser was co-hosted by the members of the professional women’s networking group known as Ladies DC and specifically raised more than $9,000, some of which will be used to pay for the aunt and uncle of Marine Lance Cpl. Brian Aft to visit their nephew in Bethesda while he recovers from severe injuries he sustained in Afghanistan on April 18th.

Playing off of the ‘Casino Royale’ theme, elegantly-clad guests at last night’s fundraiser gambled with play casino chips at craps, poker, and roulette tables setup throughout the venue. At the end of the night, winners were able to ‘cash-in’ their chips for various prizes (e.g., fur coats, trips, etc.) donated by local merchants and partners.
