The Guest List:
NORTHWEST -- It’s 9:59p.m. on Thursday evening and a line of Washingtonians snakes around the block in Dupont Circle. Big birthday party at Dirty Martini? Famous DJ spinning at Current? Nope, it’s bigger than that. We’re talking frozen yogurt here. Premium frozen yogurt to be precise!

Such was the scene last night on Connecticut Avenue, as West Hollywood-based Pinkberry celebrated the launch of its first location in the District (it already has an outpost in Fairfax, VA and will open a second D.C. store in Clarendon shortly).

A pioneer in the frozen yogurt market, and an outright cultural juggernaut in its own right (think In-N-Out Burger-type of following), Pinkberry has been patiently biding its time over the past year looking for the right spot to plant its D.C. flag.

“We’re talking about a 10+ year commitment here. So we were determined to get it right; get the right location,” said Pinkberry President and CEO Ron Graves to REVAMP.com. Graves had flown clear across the country specifically for Thursday night’s festivities.

Pinkberry President and CEO Ron Graves stands outside of the newest addition to his family of stores.

And make no mistake about it. It was a celebration. Frozen yogurt junkies, some dressed in festive ‘Cinco de Mayo’ costumes, patiently waited outside for the chance to be one of the first to taste Pinkberry’s signature flavors: pomegranate, chocolate, mango, green tea, among many others.

Buckets of freshly cut fruit and premium both liquid and dry toppings abounded and hungry patrons didn’t waste any time in concocting their own personalized tangy frozen creations.

For members of the press and other VIPs, Pinkberry had taken over the second floor patio space of neighboring Current for a more intimate preview party, complete with rose champagne and Pinkberry-themed signature cocktails.

There’s really not much else we can tell you, that can’t be better summed-up by the Pinkberry song:
