Georgetown is set to uncork the city's newest wine bar later this week, with the opening of
ENO Wine Bar in the recently renovated rowhouse space adjacent to the Four Seasons hotel.
The sixth location for the Chicago-based hospitality company (but first East Coast one), the three-story establishment is intended to serve as an unpretentious alternative to the stereotypical wine bar, including a particular emphasis on supporting local producers.
To such an end, several Virginia wineries are among the hundreds of both Old World and New selections that will be on offer, with half of ENO's bottles priced under $50. More than 50 wines will be available by the glass and the wine list will boast an additional eight on tap, including some from the brand's own private labels.
On the food front, the menu is packed with an array of flavorful fine cheese, charcuterie, and chocolate choices that will compliment any vino pairing. Again, the emphasis is on regional suppliers here with Washington's own
Stachowski Market, Virginia confectioner
Gearhart's, and Maryland-based
Cherry Glen Goat Cheese Co. all prominent partners.
To ensure that customers' grapes don't come with an unintended side order of wrath, ENO has enlisted
Jeffrey Barrientos to serve as the venue's Wine Director. Most recently the Assistant General Manager at
minibar, Barrientos was a key part of the team that helped make Jose Andres' modernist venue what
Wine Enthusiast magazine labeled as one of the country's '100 Best Wine Restaurants'.
Cheers to hopefully doing it all over again.
ENO Wine Bar is located at 2810 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW in Georgetown. Hours of operation are Monday-Saturday from 4:00pm to midnight and 1:00pm to 10:00pm on Sunday.
