Continuing a time-honored holiday tradition first started in 1923, President's Park, located just outside the White House, once again played host yesterday evening to the National Christmas Tree Lighting.
President Obama and the First Family were far from the only household names at the celebration, however, with Thursday's program boasting performances from Crosby, Stills & Nash, Aloe Blacc, Fall Out Boy, and Trombone Shorty, among several other luminaries.
Academy Award-winning actress Reese Witherspoon served as the night's emcee, with 94.7 Fresh FM radio host Tommy McFLY and ABC7 anchor Jummy Olabanji presiding over the pre-show entertainment.
In honor of the National Park Service's centennial next year, the design of this year's 30-foot Colorado blue spruce features streaks of sparkling gold and silvery-white (colors that are traditionally used for banner celebrations).
