The District's best was the toast of the town last week, as
Washingtonian Magazine literally rolled out the red carpet for its tentpole annual summer celebration.
As it did last year (and the year before and the year before that), the 2015 '
Best Of' bash was a sold-out affair, with some 2,000 D.C. residents packing the
National Building Museum for the occasion.
Wednesday's party boasted a glitzy 'Old Hollywood' motif, complete with art deco-inspired decorations, larger-than-life Oscar statuettes, and even a 1932 Ford automobile sitting atop the always bustling bar area.
Guests were provided with the opportunity to sample sips and bites from nearly 100 area restaurants, bars, and retail establishments, including everything from sake bombs to summer squash to spicy stews.
VIPs, which normally include various members of Congress, D.C. government officials, and business and philanthropic leaders, also were treated to a private reception on the building's second floor hosted by
Washingtonian Publisher
Cathy Merrill Williams (although the draw of the bustling floor below was hard to stay away from for too long).
The night was quite simply the best.
