To say that Tuesday night's D.C. premiere of
American Sniper hit its mark would be an understatement, with dozens of D.C. VIPs joining film star
Bradley Cooper at the United States Navy Memorial for the occasion.
Most notably present was
Vice President Joe Biden and his wife,
Dr. Jill Biden, who together discreetly slipped in to the venue just minutes before the screening began.
Directed by
Clint Eastwood,
American Sniper tells the true story of decorated Navy SEAL sharpshooter
Chris Kyle, both during his courageous exploits on the battlefield in Iraq and upon returning home to his wife, Taya (played by
Sienna Miller in the movie), and kids.
Taya Kyle was also in attendance during yesterday's premiere and walked the red carpet with Cooper. Veteran service organizations, such as the
USO,
Blue Star Families, and
Veterans of Foreign Wars, were equally well represented and their staff members could be spotted talking to and answering questions from the various Congressmen and top military brass present.

American Sniper opens everywhere on Friday, January 16th.
