There was no hotter ticket in Washington yesterday evening than to the world premiere party for the soon-to-be-released World War II action drama
Fury, hosted by Columbia Pictures.
The red carpeted blockbuster bash took over the sprawling interior of the
Newseum for the occasion, which served a philanthropic dual purpose in building awareness for local nonprofit
Blue Star Families.
Indeed, guests to last night's event, which included
Fury cast members
Brad Pitt,
Shia LaBeouf,
Logan Lerman,
Michael Pena,
Jon Bernthal,
Jason Isaacs, and director
David Ayer were encouraged to post letters of support to a dedicated 'Wall of Honor' that bordered the red carpet in a display of support for the military community-minded organization.
Joining the stars of the film for the screening was an equally impressive list of D.C. notables, with
Vice President Biden, former
Secretary of State Colin Powell, Supreme Court
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Washington Capitals players
Alex Ovechkin,
Evgeny Kuznetsov, and
Dmitry Orlov, and too many members of Congress and White House staffers to count all spotted.
Fury follows a Sherman tank crew, commanded by army sergeant Don 'Wardaddy' Collier (Pitt), during the closing days of the second World War, as the Allies are making their final push in the European Theatre. Tasked with a deadly mission behind enemy lines, the five-man crew must overcome overwhelming odds as they attempt a brave strike at the heart of Nazi Germany.
The movie opens nationwide on October 17th.
