With a self-described "modern approach to American work wear and cultured Southern dandyism", designer William "Billy" Reid brought his eponymous fashion label to Washington today, with the grand opening of a spacious Georgetown retail location.

Occupying the same spot near the intersection of M and Wisconsin that formerly housed Pizzeria Uno, the new store offers Billy Reid's full collection of men's, women's, and accessories.

With critical plaudits including a February 2010 'Best New Designer in America Award' from GQ and the Council of Fashion Designers of America and a '12 CFDA 'Best Menswear Designer of the Year Award' , it's easy to see how the Louisiana native has grown so quickly.

Indeed, today's Georgetown opening is but the fashion house's latest, with other shops located in New York City; Austin, TX; Atlanta, GA; Nashville, TN; Charleston, SC; Dallas, TX; and Houston, TX. Collection staples are also carried by Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdale's, and Nordstrom, among others.

Still, the Billy Reid store on North Court Street in Florence, AL remains the flagship, with the designer himself working out of an adjoining studio.

But we like to think that the Georgetown imprint is a close second.
